AI comparison service also funded by a16z crypto
Good morning.
This is mitsui from web3 researcher.
Today, I researched about "Yupp".
🤖What is Yupp?
🚩Released after a stealth period of about 1 year since its inception
💬DePIN2.0 with user benefits
🧵TL;DR
Yupp is a free platform that allows users to compare multiple AI models and receive credits for their feedback.
The credits are redeemable for cash or crypto assets, and the cost is funded by venture capital raised by Yupp.
This is a data-collecting DePIN model that aims to monetize the collected human evaluation data by providing it to AI companies.
Users have the benefit of trying the latest LLMs free of charge, making it a next-generation mechanism that allows them to use, benefit from, and contribute to the system.
🤖What is Yupp?
Yupp" is a service that allows users to compare and evaluate multiple AI models on a single platform.
Users enter questions or instructions in a chatbot-like interface,The user enters a question or instruction in a chatbot-like interface, and two different AI modelsby two different AI models are displayed in parallel.
The models displayed are selected from a pool of more than 500 models, ranging from the latest LLMs from U.S. giants such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, to those of national and emerging companies such as Alibaba and Mistral.Users will be able tocompare the two responses, select their preferred response, and provide feedback on whyBy doing so, you can earn "Yupp credits," which are unique points.
Yupp provides a mechanism for evaluating and ranking the performance of AI models (Yupp VIBE Score) using human evaluation data collected in this way.
Once again, the main features offered by Yupp can be summarized as follows
Multi-model comparison: Multiple (currently two) AI models can provide answers to a single question, and their performance and trends can be compared. This enables visualization of differences in responses from model to model.
User Feedback Collection: A feedback function that allows users to select their preferred answers and comment on the reasons why.The feedback content is designed to allow not only text evaluation, but also detailed evaluation of responses, such as "interesting," "ambiguous," "stylistic issues," "misinformation," etc.
Rewarded Credit System: For feedback providersYupp creditsThe accumulated credits can be exchanged for money, etc., as described below. This encourages user participation and enables large-scale collection of evaluation data.
Discovery and Exploration of AI ModelsYupp is a portal for AI models, allowing users to try out the latest large-scale language models as well as various types of generative AI (including image generation) without additional installation or billing.without additional installation or billing. The trial version is available without any additional installation or charge. It is also useful for learning about response trends for each model and for finding an AI that meets your needs.
Chatbot UI and Conversation History: The chatbot UI is designed in a chat format like ChatGPT, and past conversation history can be saved and referenced.
As described above, Yupp is developing a unique service that integrates experience and evaluation of the latest AI models under the slogan "Every AI for everyone.
It is available and I am using it myself.I will put up some screens.
As mentioned earlier, you use the AI while consuming credits, which you can earn 5,000 credits for initial registration and additional credits for feedback to the AI.
The credits accumulated by Yupp can be converted into cash or crypto assets.Users can convert their rewards into real currency at any time by selecting the "Cash Out" option from their profile screen and specifying the number of credits equivalent to the amount they wish to withdraw and how they wish to receive them.
The conversion rate is 1,000 credits = 1 US dollar, which is used as the basis for calculating the conversion rate to each currency and crypto asset.
We have partnered with payment platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, and Coinbase, and accept payments in more than 20 legal tender currencies, including US dollars and euros.Withdrawals are also possible in Base and stable coins on Solana.
In the interest of fairness and sustainability, there is also a per capita withdrawal limit.Currently, there is a maximum cash-out limit of $10 per day or $50 per month, limiting users from withdrawing excessive amounts of money in a short period of time.
Yupp is a platform that aggregates large amounts of user feedback data, which is used as the basis for the VIBE score and knowledge base for AI models, and it is envisioned that this vast amount of evaluation data will be the primary source of future revenue. This massive amount of evaluation data is envisioned to be the primary source of future revenue.
The team states that "crowdsourcing human feedback is our business," and that "AI companies desperately need such data to improve their models. In other words, Yupp plans a business model that generates revenue by providing and selling collected anonymized feedback data to AI development companies that need it.
🚩Released after a stealth period of about a year from inception
Yupp was founded in the United States in June 2024.The company has been in development in stealth mode for about a year since its inception and officially launched its service in June 2025.
The company raised a $33 million seed round led by a16z Crypto in 2024 at the time of its founding. In addition to a16z, investors include Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, Google's head of AI Jeff Dean, and other prominent angel investors who support the founding members' vision.
The two founding members are Pankaj Gupta and Gilad Mishne.
Pankaj Gupta is an engineer with a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and a serial entrepreneur who has founded several startups. He has held key roles at several major tech companies, including Google, where he led global consumer engineering for Google Pay, a mobile payment service, and Coinbase, where he was VP of Engineering and led consumer product development. He has held a number of key positions at leading tech companies, including VP of Engineering at Coinbase, where he led consumer product development.
In addition, he has experience growing two startups he founded in Silicon Valley in the 2010s.
Gilad Mishne is an expert in the field of machine learning, having served as the machine learning lead at Google X (now X), Google's advanced research division.Mishne has a strong background in search and data analytics.
The duo founded Yupp in response to the challenges of AI model evaluation methods: human feedback is crucial for improving LLM performance, but the process for collecting this feedback has traditionally been opaque and limited, and the recently popular AI model evaluation ranking (leaderboard) has fundamentally lacked transparency, fairness, and neutrality.
In particular, the recently popular AI model evaluation leaderboards lack transparency, impartiality, and neutrality, which are fundamental problems, according to Gupta.Gupta's idea was to solve the problem of "robust and reliable AI model evaluation" with the cooperation of all people.
From this idea, the idea to build an "AI evaluation market in which anyone can participate" by utilizing blockchain for data storage and incentive design was born, and Yupp was born.
About a year after its establishment, the platform has been released for use by general users. If you are interested in using it, please try it.
By midnight (Pacific Standard Time) on June 20.Special sign-up linkwill give you an additional 2,500 credits in addition to the 5,000 credits for signing up for an account.(It's not a deal, here's therelease blog(It was written in the)
💬DePIN2.0 with user benefits
The final section is a summary and discussion.
Looking at the founders' backgrounds and the investors, it is clear that this is a very promising project. The product was very easy to use.
The concept of this product is the so-called DePIN, a model to collect feedback from users through token incentives and monetize it by selling the big data.
The distinctive points are "implementing cash back in stable coins (or legal tender)" and "benefits for users as well.
First, regarding the former, the existence of proprietary tokens has not yet been revealed. There is also no such thing as a points program, so it is unclear what will happen in the future. However, even at this point, there is already a cash-out feature for credits, and there are substantial incentives in place.
This model of collecting data in a privacy-conscious manner on the blockchain and returning rewards in stable coins might work without proprietary tokens.
What I also thought was even more unique was the latter point: the benefits to the user.
Most DePINs have no user benefits.Strictly speaking, there are no benefits other than monetary rewards. It is a model in which people are compensated for donating their free time and resources, similar to the sharing economy.
However, Yupp also has a benefit for users. That is, users can compare the latest AI models for free. This is a valuable experience in a world where LLMs are in a state of flux and are constantly being updated.
This free model, plus cash back, is a very good value from the user's point of view.
I think there are not many DePINs that fulfill the value provided as a product on the user side as well.Personally, I think this kind of model is ideal, and if a form of DePIN 2.0 spreads in which users use the system purely for convenience and also receive additional pocket money, the number of general users may increase as well.
I would simply like to use Yupp for my own research and compare the results!
That's all for researching "Yupp"!
