【Nubila】DePIN project to provide real-time weather data in a distributed ESG data network / @nubilanetwork
DePIN and ReFi seem to be a good match.
Good morning.
Mitsui from web3 researcher.
Today we researched Nubila.
🔵What is Nubila?
⚙️ already sold 16,000 nodes
💬DePIN and ReFiConsider the affinity.
🔵What is Nubila?
"Nubila" is a distributed ESG data network. The Nubila hardware is deployed around the world in the DePIN project, which collects real-time hyper-local weather data and leverages AI to provide accurate and actionable insights for weather-sensitive industries.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data is becoming one of the most important factors in today's economy.Climate change is causing extreme weather events that are costing the global economy approximately $5 trillion annually, increasing the need for ESG data to guide business planning and decision making ESG data can provide critical insights for sustainable investment, corporate responsibility, and policy making.
Most existing weather data rely heavily on satellite observations. While these sources are useful, they often lack the high-precision ground equipment needed for accurate data.As a result, weather information can become too generalized and lack the detail needed for specific applications or regional forecasts.
In addition, the current network of ground weather stations is often unorganized, with data dispersed across a variety of platforms and formats. This disorganization results in significant effort and cost spent on data validation and cleaning, making it difficult to obtain reliable and consistent data.
Other challenges exist, such as increased operating costs and slow latency.
In response to these conditions, as mentioned above, the value of weather data is rising, and moreover, it is now being sought not only for academic research, but also for industrial sectors such as agriculture, energy, insurance, hedge funds, and other fields.
Nubila" leverages blockchain and AI to create a network that provides real-time, actionable, hyper-local weather information to everyone.
⚙️Already 16,000 nodes sold
Since "Nubila" is a DePIN project, we will build a distributed weather network by selling machines called "Nubila Nodes" and having them installed everywhere.
The following benefits exist for node holders
Exclusive Data Access: Gain priority access to the most comprehensive ESG data essential for research, investment decisions and sustainable business practices.
Passive income: Members receive a portion of the revenue from data usage fees and platform activities.
Redistribution of Value: committed to redistributing value to our members and communities by reinvesting a portion of our profits in initiatives that promote sustainability and social equity.
A total of 140,875 Nubila Verifiernode licenses are available at tiered pricing starting at 703.6 USDTThe license is sold with tiered pricing starting at 703.6 USDT.For example, the prices are as follows.
While the waiting list is currently open to the public, it was noted that they have already deployed 16,000 stations around the world and collected over 100 terabytes of weather data in total, so closed sales are expected to be already underway.
They were also recognized and completed a 2.5M funding round in July 2024, led by IoTeX and VeChain + Boston Consulting Group IoTeX is a cutting-edge blockchain platform focused on the convergence of blockchain and IoTIt provides a decentralized infrastructure for IoT devices and applications to interact securely and efficiently.Nubila is currently deployed on IoTeX.However, in the future we plan to support other major blockchains such as VeChain, Ethereum, Base, Solana, etc.
Let's look at the roadmap: in Q3, the validator network will start and will have multi-chain support as mentioned above. Also, the presale of devices will start.
💬DePINとReFiの親和性を考える
The last one is a consideration.
I have written before in the newsletter about starting a personal ReFi-based initiative, and in fact, I have been doing research for a long time.I don't often use this newsletter to introduce ReFi related topics.
Now, as mentioned above, I am actually researching a great many ReFi projects, but most of the current ReFi is in the area of carbon credits.Personally, I think that DePIN, a data collection system, may be the next to break into that field.
Whether "Nubila" is ReFi or not may be a matter of debate, but I believe that the real-time, distributed collection of environmental data, such as weather data, will help solve environmental problems and agricultural problems caused by abnormal weather, etc., which will help solve social problems.
Above all, if data can be transferred on-chain to the trustless, related financial products can be constructed.Personally, I believe that the transformation of these areas into financial products is very significant. When they become financial products, they attract money, and I believe that environmental issues and extreme weather problems that have been neglected will come to be regarded as investment products, and as a result, they will be solved.
For this to happen, it is essential for the network to function.Below is the flywheel shape of the DePIN network as proposed by IoTeX, which is also an investor in "Nubila".According to this, the order of involvement in DePIN is investor -> minor -> developer -> user.It seems to be all about how to build the underlying network and how to get Dapps built using it.
In the case of "Nubila," after selling nodes and collecting real-time local weather data, the flywheel spins further by bringing together a community of Dapps developers who use the data and users who make use of it.
Simple but understandable.
I cannot read how long the time frame will be in the future, but I believe that solutions to environmental issues will surely be required, and data oracles will be necessary in this context.I thought this initiative to do that with DePIN would be quite compatible. For now, I'll put you on the waiting list.
This is my research on "Nubila"!
