NFT conversion of physical cards for secure storage and immediate settlement
Good morning.
I am mitsui, a web3 researcher.
Today we researched Collector Crypt.
🖼️What is Collector Crypt?
🚩 Transition and proprietary tokens
💬The collectibles market remains large
🧵TL;DR
Collector Crypt was founded in 2023 and launched by founder Tuom Holmberg (with over 25 years of card collecting experience) with the vision of "transforming the inefficiencies of the collector market with blockchain".
The mechanism is to convert physical cards to NFT for secure storage and immediate settlement, and to expand transactions with unique features such as a gacha system and snipe bidding.
As a transition, a beta version with gacha function was launched in December 2024, and by summer 2025, weekly sales exceeded $16.6 million and monthly transactions $44 million, and the community, including Discord, grew rapidly.
Token CARDS will be issued on Solana (maximum supply 2 billion), designed as asset-backed, with a portion of proceeds used for buyback and burn, and future plans for staking and DeFi linkage.
🖼️What is Collector Crypt?
Collector Crypt" is a platform designed to convert real collectibles (mainly trading cards) into digital assets on the blockchain.
Specifically, actual official trading cards (e.g., Pokémon cards) are securely stored and appraised, and their ownership is issued as a single NFT. Users can buy and sell this NFT or burn the NFT and take back the actual card.
Blockchain technology enables transaction transparency and immediate settlement, aiming to eliminate inefficiencies associated with traditional card transactions, such as shipping, payment delays, and counterfeit risk.
In the following sections, we will explain the features and detailed mechanisms.
◼️Tokenization of Real Assets (Vault & pNFT)
When a user or management team deposits a physical trekker into Collector Crypt, the card is securely stored and managed, and a physical linked NFT (pNFT) is issued on Solana with that card as the backing asset.
The NFT contains metadata such as card grade and identification information, and each NFT is associated with a corresponding physical card. Cards are graded by a professional grading agency and authenticated by a professional appraiser to ensure the quality and authenticity of the cards used to support the NFT.
Issued NFTs can be bought and sold not only in Collector Crypt's internal marketplace, but also in external Solana-affiliated NFT markets such as Magic Eden, ensuring compatibility with the existing NFT ecosystem.
If the cardholder wants the physical card back, he/she can request that the card be shipped from the vault by burning the corresponding NFT, and the NFT will be exchanged (redeemed) for the physical card.
◼️Gacha (Gacha) System
One of Collector Crypt's unique features is the "gacha machine" method of selling digital packs. As we will discuss later in this report, there are other services like Collector Crypt, but this gacha feature accelerates transactions.
Users pay a certain amount of money to open a "pack" that randomly awards one card NFT, and the pack has a certain probability of containing a high value rare card.
The following information is available for each pack
“Expected Value $55.66”: Expected value at this moment calculated from the market price on ALT / eBay etc. 55.66 for a $50 pack → Expected value is about +11.3% ($5.66 upside)
Pack contains: 1 Card:Whenever one pack is purchased, one card (an actual card that has been NFTed) is always included.
Instant buyback offer: 85% of value:Any card that comes out of a pack that is opened is immediately bought back by the platform at 85% of its estimated market value.
→ A system that allows you to cash out immediately with minimal loss even if you draw an outlier card.Big win chance: 20%:The probability of winning a rare or expensive card is about 20%. In other words, the design is such that you can get a "hit" about once in every five times.
Probability and price range by rarity
Commons
Price range: $30-$60
Probability of winning: 80
Uncommon
Price range: $60-$110
Probability of winning: 15
Rare
Price range: $110-$250
Chance of winning: 4
Epic
Price range: $250-$2,000+
Chance of winning: 1
This positive average return and the fact that even if it misses, you can sell it immediately for a loss of 15% or so, exploded demand for the gacha as a way to try again and again for a small risk. in august 2025, it reached $16.6 million (about $2.4 billion) in one week alone. in the same month, it reached $3.5 million (about $1.5 billion).
◼️Sniper Tools
As a unique peripheral feature, Collector Crypt also offers a "snipe bidding service" to win and store the cards you want at external auctions such as eBay on your behalf.
The platform's automated bidding program snipes the best bid at the end of the auction for the cards specified by the user, and after winning the bid, the cards are directly housed in the Vault and converted to NFT.
Users can use this service by depositing the required amount of SOL in advance, and the fee is set at 1% of the winning bid. In the unlikely event of an unsuccessful bid, the deposit is fully refundable. This tool allows users to bring their cards onto Collector Crypt without the hassle of procuring and sending them themselves from eBay or other sources.
◼️Storage & Delivery Infrastructure
The actual cards are securely stored in professional vaults such as PWCC's in Oregon, USA. The storage facilities are fully air-conditioned, security-compliant, and insured to prevent deterioration of the cards and reduce the risk of theft and disasters.
If the user redeems the NFT and requests the return of the card, the platform will handle the secure shipping process on their behalf and collect a fee of 2% of the card valuation at the time of shipping.
Thus, Collector Crypt is building an architecture that integrates real-world logistics and blockchain, and has spent several years developing a comprehensive infrastructure that goes beyond mere smart contract development.
🚩Transition and proprietary tokens
◼️Founder Information
Collector Crypt was founded in 2023, led by Tuom Holmberg, a member of the Collector Crypt team. Holmberg is a blockchain enthusiast with over 25 years of experience collecting trading cards (especially Magic and Pokemon) and has been involved in bitcoin mining since 2013.
The project was launched with the vision of "transforming the inefficiencies of the collectors' market with blockchain."
The company is managed by a team with expertise in both technology and collection culture, including CTO Dax Herrera (a digital marketing entrepreneur) and Lead Engineer Richard Shaffer (over 15 years of development experience).
◼️ set up background
In the background, there were issues such as "shipping delays, counterfeiting risks, and intermediary costs" in the growing global Pokémon card market and trading card transactions.
Collector Crypt has created a solution to this problem: cards are securely stored in specialized vaults, authenticated, and converted to NFT, and then traded on Solana. In this way, collectors and investors alike have access to a "secure and instant marketplace.
◼️ transition
2023: Seed funding from GSR, Big Brain Holdings, Genesis Block Ventures (GBV) and other prominent VC's to launch the project.
December 2024: Launch of beta platform with Gacha (Gacha Machine) feature. Users draw one card NFT for each pack purchased, offering a unique mechanism for immediate buy-back at 85% in the event of a miss.
By summer 2025, gacha sales will reach $16.6 million per week and cumulative packs sold will exceed 1 million.
End of August 2025: Native token "CARDS" issued on Solana. A public sale in the form of a launch pool raises approximately $1.9 million. Prices soared immediately after release, rising approximately 10x in the first week.
Monthly transaction volume exceeded $44 million (approximately 6.4 billion yen), making it a standout among RWA-based projects on Solana.
The community grew into a Discord of thousands of people, and reports of high card draws became a hot topic on social networking sites.
Below you will see that the growth is noticeable starting around January 2025.

A portion of the platform revenue will be used to buy back and burn CARDS.
Future plans include fee discounts, staking, and governance.

💬The collectibles market remains large
The final section is a summary and discussion.
With the recent excitement in the TGC market, especially in Pokémon cards, we investigated Collector Crypt, which is at the center of this market. As with other platforms, warehousing and phygital NFTing were obvious, but I felt that the design of the gacha was certainly an element that could be exciting.
Frankly, online packs (OriPa) are a big part of the excitement in real-world Pokémon cards, and they have been sold with randomness since the initial pack purchase.
When this is on the blockchain, we know what to expect, and we also know that we can transfer ownership and sell on the spot, which is more transparent and convenient than the current Oripa experience.
A long time ago, the cryptocurrency boom attracted the attention of the cryptocurrency community as a speculative activity, but as it becomes more popular among general collectors, I think there is a great possibility that it will take root.
The official description of Collector Crypt also clearly states that "collections can be collateralized (collateralize) as well as bought and sold. This is an image of depositing NFTed cards as collateral assets for lending and borrowing SOL or USDC.
This is expected to make it possible to "raise funds without giving up the card" and increase the financialization of collector assets.
This kind of linkage is a benefit of being on-chain, and is also true for the recent trend of tokenized shares, etc. I am very much looking forward to this area of collaboration.
We will continue to follow Collector Crypt's continued growth in the future, as we believe the current growth is due in part to the token issuance.
This is the research for Collector Crypt!
