Impressions of the Site Visit and Future Plans for International Expansion and Newsletter
Returning home!!!
Good morning.
I'm Mitsui, a web3 researcher.
Today, I will write about my thoughts on "Impressions of on-site inspection, overseas expansion, and the future of newsletters." There are parts that are not directly related to web3 and it is not an educational article, but I hope you enjoy it as a reading material.
Impressions of on-site inspection
First of all, I apologize for the day of absence in updates this week. I have mentioned it in the newsletter, but I was in Thailand. Even though I had set aside time for article creation during my stay, there were various troubles such as unexpected long commutes, no Wi-Fi, and I couldn't update on some days. I regret that I lacked the ability to anticipate overseas troubles...
I have returned home, so I will resume regular updates from today.
Since there are many aspects of Thailand that are not related to web3, I will briefly touch on them:
Prices are almost the same
Some outdoor markets (like street stalls) are about half the price, but normal restaurants have similar prices to Japan.
I also went to CoCo Ichibanya in Bangkok and the prices were almost the same.
It's incredibly developed
There are many shopping malls in Bangkok, about 5 times the size of Shibuya Scramble Square (I personally visited 6, but there are many more).
There are also places like Chinatown and night markets, which are typical of Southeast Asia, but within a 15-minute radius, there are huge shopping malls coexisting.
Grab is amazing
The ride-sharing service Grab is amazing.
The train system is still easy to understand, but the bus system is difficult to navigate.
Also, the country is vast, so it is often difficult to reach the destination by train alone.
Therefore, I mostly used Grab for transportation.
It cost around 1,000 yen for a 40-60 minute, 10 km ride, and around 5,000 yen for a 2-hour, 80 km ride.
I was carefully looking for anything related to web3, but I didn't find much offline.
There was an NFT stamp rally at JAPAN EXPO 2024 Thailand.
There was an art NFT booth in one corner of the shopping mall (I bought a T-shirt as they were selling BAYC figures and T-shirts. They said it was produced under the license of BAYC).
Therefore, the popularity of web3 in Japan was not much different. However, I feel that fintech companies are growing rapidly as there are many advertisements for online banks. It may be contributing to the spread of web3 online.
In addition, regarding Taito Corporation, if there is an opportunity to meet, please let me do various things!
Overseas Expansion
The purpose of going to Thailand (honestly, there is also sightseeing) is because I wanted to see the global atmosphere with my own eyes. As I mentioned in this article, my personal goal for 2024 is "overseas expansion".
I plan to expand the newsletter in multiple languages while visiting the local areas to study their reality.
I originally became a researcher because I felt that without knowledge, I wouldn't be able to create any products. From there, I found that being a researcher was very enjoyable, it suited my skill set, and I felt that it had business potential. So now, I'm working hard to become known as a web3 researcher worldwide.
In this era, it is possible to research most projects from Japan. However, the enthusiasm, atmosphere, true reasons for success or failure can only be understood by experiencing the local environment.
I also want to write articles about that aspect of research. This trip to Thailand was the first time, so I didn't make any appointments on site. However, in the future, I will conduct interviews with local entrepreneurs and share experiences with web3 projects, strengthening the local reports.
I will write those articles not only in Japanese but also in Korean, Spanish, English, and Chinese, covering five languages.
↓ The settings are not yet complete, but the multilingual expansion has started. Japanese articles are being published in different languages one week later.
In the future, I would like to travel the world while also using these newsletters as a means of organizing meet-ups.
Future of the Newsletter
With the conclusion of the special edition on Thailand, we will return to our regular research article updates starting tomorrow. However, as mentioned before, we will continue to evolve and occasionally provide on-site reports as special editions.
In addition to in-depth articles on specific projects, explanatory articles on the latest news, in-depth reports on specific industries, interview articles, and analytical articles, we will also be adding:
On-site report articles
We will continue to evolve our research articles to have even denser content, creating a newsletter with overwhelming value. Thank you for your continued support.
Furthermore, occasionally, I will include articles about my thoughts and the future of the newsletter. I believe that one of the unique characteristics of this newsletter is the close relationship with its subscribers. Especially since most articles in this newsletter are paid, it allows me to express my thoughts in a closed space.
Rather than being a public media aimed at the masses, I feel that a closed media aimed at a niche audience is the true strength of a newsletter. Therefore, I include my own observations in regular articles and occasionally share operational information and policies.
While striving to deliver 95% valuable information for pure enjoyment and learning, I hope that the remaining 5% can also bring enjoyment in witnessing my own growth and the growth of this newsletter.
It may sound raw, but as the newsletter grows, just like Netflix, the budget allocated to content increases, allowing me to travel the world, purchase rare NFTs, and invest in protocols. Although it is still on a small scale, eventually, we will evolve the newsletter to include research articles that incorporate voices and experiences from these locations.
Nevertheless, the foundation of daily diligent research article updates remains, so we will start by consistently updating those. Please continue to enjoy!
Disclaimer:I carefully examine and write the information that I research, but since it is personally operated and there are many parts with English sources, there may be some paraphrasing or incorrect information. Please understand. Also, there may be introductions of Dapps, NFTs, and tokens in the articles, but there is absolutely no solicitation purpose. Please purchase and use them at your own risk.
